Stencils Can Achieve a Wallpaper Like Effect On An Accent Wall
Good morning, my stenciling friends! Cutting Edge Stencils wants to know how many renting fans we have out there. Signing your name on the dotted line for a lease doesn't mean you can't decorate your home to fit your style. If you've been craving wall pattern, rather than toss your dreams aside because wallpaper is banned, we want you to consider using wall stencils to get a similar effect. Stenciling a wall pattern is easy to do and much more affordable than wallpaper. A total DIY win, win! Let's take a look at how one renter used our Harlequin Trellis Stencil to update her master bedroom.
We'd like to introduce Carly Cristman, the fashion, beauty, and lifestlyle blogger behind Carly Cristman. Oh and she can now add DIY stencil extraordinaire! Let's take a look at her stenciled bedroom.
Absolutely stunning! Carly tells fans how she loved the idea of adding some pattern to her bedroom wall. She's a renter so using wallpaper was not really an option. The next best way to get that wallpaper desired look but for half the price is to use a wall stencil. Carly searched our website and fell in love with the Harlequin Trellis Allover Stencil, a popular geometric wall pattern. She spills the beans on stenciling in this video, Bedroom Update: Stencil Wall | DIY Wallpaper Effect:
Carly painted the bedroom using Benjamin Moore’s shoreline 1471. She used blue painters tape to adhere the stencil to the wall and painted the trellis pattern using Benjamin Moore simply white OC-117 in semi-gloss. She used a semi-gloss paint for the stencil to give the pattern sheen and create a wallpaper effect.
She poured her paint into a paper plate and painted the pattern using a stencil brush. After each section was painted, she would reposition the stencil to paint the next section. She did this until the entire accent wall was painted.
Once the stencil was complete, Carly completed the room with several silver accent pillows, a tufted headboard, and plush bedding. Ready to see more of her sleek yet stylish master bedroom?
Here is another view of her stunning space.
Carly comments in her video, "It turned out beautiful and I'm so happy I did it!"
