Benjamin Moore Starts a Trend with Stenciled Kitchen Backsplashes
Benjamin Moore's Color Trends Brochure Features Cutting Edge Stencils In Stenciled Kitchen Backsplash
Good morning, my creative home renovators! Today,
Cutting Edge Stencils is chatting about a home decorating trend that we've seen more and more of this year. It all started earlier this year when we popped up in
Benjamin Moore's 2013 Color Trends, within their Urbanite color palette.
It's a palette of colors that are crisp, chic and let off a cool cosmopolitan vibe. Ah! It's no wonder that our
stencils fit in so well here! Benjamin Moore features a city-chic kitchen that's been painted in soft yet sophisticated colors and to top it all off they painted our
Chain Link Allover Stencil to create a unique backsplash. Gorgeous, don't you think?
To recreate this gorgeous kitchen's look, paint your backsplash in Benjamin Moore
sparrow AF-720 and then stencil our Chain Link Allover pattern in
camouflage 2143-40. The best part about this project (other than being featured in one of favorite paint company's trendy forecast) is that it's so achievable! Stenciling a backsplash in a kitchen is way cheaper than some of the alternatives like stone and tile. Yet it the addition of the stenciled pattern in this space can be stunning. We think it's an awesome idea!
Need More Painted & Stenciled Backsplash Inspiration?
Well look no further! It certainly looks like Benjamin Moore was onto a trend when they stenciled their kitchen wall that has quickly caught on! This past July,
This Old House Magazine featured the Julian family. This handy DIY family was working on a kitchen redo when they decided to stencil the backplash in their kitchen. After putting down a gray base coat in a flat finish (Clark+Kensington's Ominous Cloud), Haley Julian used white semigloss (Dutch Boy's Ultra White) to apply the
Hourglass pattern. Don't know about you but we'd love to pull up a stool and hang out in this breathtaking kitchen!
Then there's this stenciled stud that we found on the
Remodelaholic. Ashely, a creative DIYer, was working on a kitchen redo on a really tight budget. Instead of using a pricey tile to line the kitchen backsplash, she decided to stencil the area using our
Casablanca pattern in limey shade of green. We love how the stencil pops against the all white cabinets! Stunning!
Not sure which direction to take your kitchen makeover? We all know that kitchen projects can be full ups and downs. Just like this
Ikat Zig Zag stencil in Hillary's kitchen. Hillary, a crafty fan, started the striped pattern in the dining section of her kitchen and then continued it along the wall as the backsplash. We love her creative continuity!
Even our
Instagram fans, like Audrie, have picked up on this inexpensive kitchen trend. Audrie used our
Zagora Stencil in a warm golden hue to give the heart of her home a little patterned punch! We love it, don't you?!
Would you dare to stencil the backsplash in your kitchen? We'd love to hear thoughts in the comments below!
