Stencil A Wallpaper Look

Stencils Are An Affordable DIY Solution to Achieve A Wallpaper Look

Good morning, my DIY home renovators! Do these dreary winter days have you longing for a decor change? If being stuck inside is giving you the desire to add color and pattern to your walls, Cutting Edge Stencils has an easy decorating solution. No, no, don't be silly, we would never suggest wallpaper. While fancy wallpaper is often considered, it's pricey and a huge hassle. And we'd never suggest a DIY project that gives you more of a headache than happiness. We're thinking about stenciling! It's a simple way to get the wallpaper look but for a fraction of the price. In fact, you can get an allover stencil pattern for less than the cost of a single roll of wallpaper. Allover stencils come in a variety of patterns from traditional florals to modern geometrics and the best part is that they are totally customizable because you pick the paint colors. Our jaw nearly hit the ground when we saw this stenciled kitchen that was sent to us by Debbie from Cerone Designs, a Chicago based mural artist. She crafted this gorgeous allover wall stencil in a client's large kitchen using our Anna Damask stencil in rich blue tones. Debbie said, "they were originally going to wallpaper - but (after two attempts) the paper hanger could not get the wallpaper edges to lay flat. The designer and I convinced the homeowner that we could get the same effect with a stencil - with absolutely no need to ever worry about maintaining or stripping wallpaper!" We totally have to agree with Debbie on her pro-stencil stance. This stunning space was stenciled using our Trellis Allover pattern by Australian Interior Designer, Lisa, from . She painted the intricate Moroccan pattern in Autentico's "Silver" chalk paints. Lisa had this to say, "I love it! It feels so much brighter." We love the patterned charm that the stencil adds to this space. Now you might see this gorgeous yellow and white patterned powder room and think that has to be wallpaper. Think again, my friend. Suzanne from Privet and Holly, used out Verde Damask pattern to get this wallpaper like look. She said, "Since the powder room sits across the hall from my computer cubby, I would see it and admire it every day." To recreate this look consider using Benjamin Moore's citrine AF-370. over a soft white. We think it's lovely.
