Radiant Orchid Blooms As Pantone's Color of the Year 2014
Cutting Edge Stencils Shares Home Decor Inspiration Using Pantone's Color of the Year 2014
Good Morning, my color enthusiasts! We're here to say, move over Emerald because there’s a new favorite hue and we’ll be painting the town a bright, vibrant shade of purple!
Cutting Edge Stencils would like to welcome Radiant Orchid as Pantone's Color of the Year for 2014. This crisp, clean shade of light purple radiates joy. We know you're dying to find out how to apply this to your home's interior, but first let's understand how it was selected!
Why Radiant Orchid?
According to
Pantone's press release on its 2014 color selection, Radiant Orchid was chosen to intrigue the eye and spark the imagination. While last year's color Emerald, symbolized growth, renewal and prosperity, this year's color hops across the color wheel to invite innovations, originality, and creativity! This sounds like OUR color for sure! Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, says “An enchanting harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid inspires confidence and emanates great joy, love and health. It is a captivating purple, one that draws you in with its beguiling charm.”
What Will Radiant Orchid Bring to the Design of Your Home?
Pantone LOVES the idea of using Radiant Orchid to spruce up the interior of your home! They tell us that using this eye-catching purple hue is just perfect for both your walls and home decor projects! We've talked about purple in our
Positively Purple Pattern post, as a crowd pleasing color and Pantone confirms it. They say, "this vibrant color is sure to liven up neutrals including gray, beige and taupe. Uplifting and bold without being overpowering, Radiant Orchid reenergizes almost any color palette and provides a unifying element for diverse spaces."
Cutting Edge Stencils Radiates With Orchid Love
We've been spotting this popular purple hue for quite awhile now and we can't say enough about its vibrancy and beauty! To show you how delightful this color can be on walls and in home decor, we've gathered up some of our favorites!
We love the idea of painting a dresser in the pretty purple hue just like Artistic Home Studio and Boutique did with the piece shown below. After painting it, they stenciled the feminine Lily Scroll craft pattern in a stylish metallic, like FolkArt’s Aluminum.
We also think it's the perfect color for curtains. Take the lead from Sarah, the fab DIY blogger from A Little of This, A Little of That. She bought plain white panels from Ikea and stenciled our Parsley Blooms pattern. Sarah says, “They are bright, and a little on the modern side." We think they're oh-so-gorgeous!
You can't go wrong with using this lovely shade of purple to create your own wall art. Fawnda, the DIY crafter behind
Fireflies and Jellybeans created this adorable piece of canvas art using a shade similar to Radiant Orchid and our
Allium Gladiator Flower Stencil.
Doesn't this stenciled wall accent just radiate with beauty? We thought so! The Decorating Divas used our
Brocade No. 1 Stencil in a captivating shade of purple to add a beautiful accent to this wall.
So tell us what you think. Would you stencil using Radiant Orchid? Leave us your thoughts in the comments below!
