The best part: These simple stencil tweaks are low on cost and lead to loads of comfort and joy!Set the Tone with Color Before You Stencil:
I'm sure you're super excited to start using your favorite stencil design. But before you do, we need to make sure you've chosen the right colors for the space. Different hues can promote particular moods according to color psychology theories. The good news is that stenciling a pattern can help tone down or play up the color you've chosen. Here's how to choose the right shade for each space. Red The color red brings energy and excitement to a space. Use it in the living room like Simran did with the Casablanca Stencil or a dining room, like Kass Wilson did with Gabi's Brocade, to stimulate conversation. Also, highly saturated colors look best in rooms with plenty of light. Blue Did you know that Blue is the easiest color for the human eye to look at? This peaceful color evokes a sense of calmness and serenity, making it a great choice for bedrooms like Susan's Marrakech Trellis Stenciled bedroom. Or try it in your home office! Research shows that it makes people more productive. I bed Patrice, from Lemon Tree Creations, is super productive in her Hourglass stenciled space! But whatever you do, avoid using it in a kitchen, as it is typically not thought of as appetizing! Yellow Have you read the Bright Side of Stenciling Yellow? Well this sunny hue is considered the color of happiness, in a kitchen, it helps make people feel welcome. Wouldn't you say that's the case for the Coach House's Casablanca Stenciled kitchen? But use it sparingly, similar to Heather from Twenty Something's yellow Zagora Stenciled curtains. Research shows that people tend to lose their tempers more often and babies cry more frequently in yellow rooms. Yikes! So while cheery yellow walls might simulate a shot of sunshine in a cold basement, experts don't recommend using yellow as your basic color in rooms that you want to relax in. Green Feeling Green with Envy? This calming color is the most restful color on the eye and it has a soothing influence! It's perfect for an accent wall as shown with the Cascade Stencil and the Oasis Stencil. Since green is the most popular color in nature, most people feel comfortable in a green toned room instantly. Just like Kirsten and her Maine Coon kitty in that Acacia stenciled bedroom. Scientists have done tests on colors and have found that green makes us more productive. Orange Orange you glad to be stenciling Orange? Orange spurs activity which is why its often used for sports mascots and in logos. This is a great color for an exercise room because it'll get you all revved up! We love how the Nadya Damask pattern and Gabrielle Damask design look in these orange stenciled spaces.Which color are you thinking about stenciling? Leave a comment below!
