Good morning, my DIY savvy friends. Raise your hand if you enjoy eating al fresco. The folks here at Cutting Edge Stencils are raising both hands. We gladly welcome the warmer weather so we enjoy our meals in the beautiful outdoors. Now if your outdoor area needs a little decorating help then we are here to offer you inspiration using floor stencils. In fact, paint and pattern are the perfect way to freshen up a dated looking deck. Cutting Edge Stencils shares a DIY stenciled deck floor using the Anna Damask Stencil pattern. http://www.cuttingedgestencils.com/products/damask-stencil We'd like you to meet Anne, the DIYer and chalk paint enthusiast behind the blog White Lace Cottage. Anne loves her screened in deck. She truly enjoys spending relaxing moments taking in bits of nature from the comforts of her home. The only issue she has with the space is the wooden deck floor. She thought the solid wood floor was ugly. To cover the eye-sore she placed an area rug over it. Here's a before shot of her screened in deck. It was beautiful but it lacked the character that she desired. Anne took to Pinterest for ideas and shortly after decided stenciling the deck was the way to go!She said, " I wanted my floor to look like a pretty rug." Well then stenciling sure does make sense to us! To start the project, Anne first cleaned the deck. She had previously painted the wooden deck with Glidden porch and floor paint in a satin finish. Before applying the paint, she would off roll the roller on a piece of paper towel to ensure there wasn't too much paint on it. Then she used a very light amount of pressure when painting the design. Because the deck was uneven, she needed to be extra careful about paint seepage under the stencil design.
