Being the awesome mama that you are, you plan on giving your tween the dreamy room she desires. There's one catch. The DIY makeover has to be on a budget. Have no fear, Cutting Edge Stencils is here and we have some tips. Here are our four tricks for creating the perfect tween room, add bold colors, do away with a theme, give your tween a say, and create a stenciled accent wall. Today we're going to share a fabulous tween room makeover. In December, Heidi and her husband decided to give their tween daughter's bedroom a mini-makeover. Her twelth birthday was quickly approaching and Heidi decided to transform her bedroom into a stylish space that reflected her daughter's tween status. We told you she was a great mama! They hired a local contractor to replace the old carpet with hardwood flooring and repaint the walls. Heidi's grandmother had given her daughter a hot pink arm chair and aqua chevron striped rug for her room makeover. It seemed like they were crossing off all the items on the makeover checklist which included new floors, painted walls, and brightly colored room decor, but the room felt like it was missing something. The walls felt bare, so Heidi put her creative thinking cap on and decided to stencil an accent wall to jazz them up. Heidi chose our Marrakech Trellis Allover stencil, it's one of our most popular Moroccan patterns. First they painted the walls in Sherwin William's repose gray 7015 and then they stenciled the pattern in Martha Stewart's metallic silver paint. They used painters tape to hold the stencil to the wall, a dense foam roller to paint, and Cutting Edge Stencil's clip-on stencil level. Heidi says, "take my word for this – the clip-on stencil level is a MUST HAVE." Here's a shot of the stenciling process. Here is the gorgeous new bedroom that Heidi created for her daughter. We absolutely love how pretty the pattern looks in a shimmery silver. Heidi had this to say, "My daughter is thrilled and I’m ready to kick her out and move in. It’s by far the cutest and best put together room in our house right now." Awe! We love hearing successful makeover stories like this one.
