Stenciling A Faux Brick Wall In A Den
Stencils Can Easily Create A Faux Brick Accent Wall
Good morning, my
Cutting Edge Stencils friends! The rustic and industrial look of exposed brick can add a bit of historic charm to any space. We are certainly smitten with this new home decor trend but adding a real brick wall is not always possible.
Stencils can easily create a faux brick wall to achieve the same charming style that a real brick wall offers. Today we're going to inspire you with a den makeover that features a stenciled faux brick accent wall.
We'd like to welcome back Anne, the creative DIYer behind the blog
White Lace Cottage. Anne has been in her house for nine years. She has shared on her blog pretty much every space of her home over the years except the den. It's a small space with french doors and a hodge podge of furniture. Since no real updates had been made to the space, she had nothing to show her fans. This is what the den looked like before:
Anne decided it was time to make a change. She fell in love with our
Brick Allover Stencil while browsing our website. She knew it was the perfect pattern for her den accent wall.
With her new stencil in hand, Anne was ready to start stenciling! She used blue painter's tape to hold the stencil in place and she painted the pattern in Heirloom Traditions Paint-Mocha and
White Lace Paint to create a soft brown.
After each section was complete, she would untape the stencil and reposition to finish the pattern on the wall. Then she used the top piece which was included with the stencil to finish the pattern along the top of the wall.
Once the stencil was complete, Anne put her furniture back in place. Ready to see how her den turned out? Here is her newly stenciled den accent wall.
But wait, she wasn't done yet! Anne decided to make her faux brick wall even more interesting and said, "I had the idea of adding a faux advertisement wall in this room." Since her husband primarily uses this room and he enjoys sports, she started browsing the web for vintage sport advertisements. Anne stumbled upon these vintage baseball programs for the Chicago Cubs and knew it was perfect!
You can read all about how Anne added the advertisement to her wall on her
blog. Here is Anne's accent wall with an advertisement painted on it.
Anne confesses that she loves the new look by saying, "This stencil is super easy to use! I’m thrilled that he loves his new office space." Awe, that's great!
