Stacy has a charming home with a butler's pantry. This small service and storage room between her entry and dining room had been painted green. Over the years, previous owners had made updates that took away from the charm of the older home. Here is what her butler's pantry looked like before: A butler's pantry before its stenciled makeover. http://www.cuttingedgestencils.com/products/japanese-peonies-floral-stencil-patterns Stacy has been working on updating the space yet keeping its historical charm with one DIY project at a time. You can read all about her room updates on her blog but we are going to focus on the stenciling. The first thing she did was paint the space using the same white paint color she had used in the entry and dining room. Stacy wanted to add a pattern behind the sink. She had this to say about wallpaper, "Sadly, high-quality wallpaper in beautiful prints is very expensive. Every time I get past the thought of spending the money, all those dirty, sweaty wallpaper removal memories come to the forefront." Since wallpaper is expensive and difficult, she went with the obvious choice for adding a pretty wall pattern, a stencil design. Stacy had browsed our large collection of stencil patterns before selecting the Japanese Peonies Stencil. This pretty wall pattern is based on trendy floral wallpaper. She used blue painter's tape to hold the Japanese Peonies pattern in place. She poured her craft paint into a foam tray and then painted the pattern using a stencil brush. Stacy chose to paint the foliage green and the peonies in a coral hue. After each section of the stencil is complete, simply untape it and reposition to finish the pattern on the wall. It can be helpful to clean the stencil in between uses.
