Stencils Add Personality and Charm To A Home
Stencils Personalize Your Abode Without Breaking The Bank
Welcome back, my Cutting Edge Stencils friends! You all know how much we love Instagram because it's full of gorgeous DIY inspiration. When we stumbled upon Barbara (barb1962), we were intrigued by her lovable golden retriever, sea imagery, and of course her stencil projects. Come see what one of our favorite Instagram fans has been stenciling lately... Barbara has been working on adding her personality and charm to her new home with one DIY project at a time. First up was her guest room. Now if there is any room in a home that you could take a leap with, it has to be the guest bedroom and that is what Barbara did. She chose to paint the room a simple white hue, Sherwin Williams Extra White. With a blank canvas, Barbara was able decorate the room through pattern and splashes of colors. She decided to stencil an accent wall behind the bed. After browsing our extensive online stencil collection, she fell in love with our Pineapple Allover Stencil.Barbara posted, "This is SO happening right now! I chose the Pineapple Allover Stencil from @cuttingedgestencils. Decided on using a five color blended paint technique. Maybe a little out of my comfort zone but the results are SO fun for the guest room. "
She used blue painters tape to adhere her stencil to her accent wall. This worked best in keeping the pineapple pattern in place. Then she used a stencil brush to paint the wall pattern. She was careful not to load too much paint on her brush because this would have caused the design to bleed. After each section was painted, she would untape the stencil and realign to continue the pattern. Barbara did this until her entire accent wall was painted. Then she posted, " Done. And I have conquered my fear of stencils."
Once her entire accent wall was stenciled, Barbara added a DIY wooden pineapple piece of wall art and an adorable gold pineapple statue. Are you ready to see how it all turned out?
Well it looks like Barbara was bitten by the stenciling bug because two months after she painted the pineapple themed guest bedroom, she was stenciling again. This time she decided to add an accent wall in her dining room. For this project she chose our Tea House Trellis Allover Stencil, a large geometric pattern.
Barbara received her stencil and posted " Transforming this dining room wall from blah to AHHHHHH! I hope..." For this project, Barbara used painter's tape to hold the stencil in place and painted the pattern using a neutral gray hue.
Once it was complete, she moved her dining room furniture back into place. Here is her newly stenciled dining room accent wall! From "fantastic" to "incredible", it's clear that her followers love her new wall pattern.
