Wall Stencils Can Add Interest To An Accent Wall

Good morning, my Cutting Edge Stencils friends! A welcoming room begins with well dressed walls and a wall stencil is the perfect way to dress up a boring wall. Browse our large selection of stencil patterns and take your space from blah to ooh la la. Let's take a look at how one DIY blogger used a stencil to enhance her master bedroom. We'd like to introduce Tia, a creative DIYer and the blogger behind She Has Good Genes. Tia wanted to give her master bedroom a makeover. She called the space "a blank slate with one random lamp, a few mis-matched pillows, and no focal point." Here is what her bedroom looked like before the update. A blank slate was no obstacle for Tia. She has a creative mind and a great eye for design. Her plan was to give the bedroom a clean, mid-century modern vibe. She commented, "My go-to color scheme is typically a mix of gray, cream, white, natural wood, solid textiles and pops of metal." Tia painted the wall behind her bed Urbane Bronze from Sherwin Williams. It's a moody dark gray color that is perfect for a bedroom. Since Tia has a unique sleeping situation and she couldn't use a headboard to add visual interest to the space, she chose pattern instead. Wallpaper is very expensive and difficult to install so a stenciling wall pattern is a great alternative. She checked out our large collection of stencil patterns before selecting the Flock of Cranes Allover Stencil. This large wall pattern captures the graceful movement of a flock of migrating birds. Tia opted for casual elegance and painted the pattern in Modern Masters Olympic Gold. When Tia was completing her stencil project, she used blue painter's tape to hold the Flock of Cranes Stencil in place. She poured her metallic gold paint into a foam tray and then painted the pattern using a dense foam roller. We always recommend using the clip on stencil level for accent wall projects because it can be such a handy stenciling tool. Tia did not follow the repeat of the stencil exactly. She overlapped the pattern to give it a natural feel and help fill the wall. We think she totally accomplished her clean, mid-century modern vibe goal with the Flock of Cranes pattern. She commented, " I love the way the dark accent walls accentuate the hand-plastered curve of our ceiling. " Please note: If you are recreating this project at home, be sure to roll off any excess paint to eliminate bleed. After each section of the stencil is complete, simply untape it and reposition to finish the pattern on the wall. It can be helpful to clean the stencil in between uses.
