A Stencil Pattern Can Enhance A Boring Ceiling
Stencil Patterns Stencil A Moroccan Pattern On Your Ceiling
Good morning, my
Cutting Edge Stencils friends!
Did you know that you could easily bring visual interest to your space by painting a stencil pattern on your ceiling? It's a simple project that adds the ultimate wow factor to a room. Paint and our stencil designs can make a boring ceiling have presence and style. Today we’re going to share with you a dining room makeover with our
Serenity Allover Stencil painted on the ceiling. Come take a look...
We'd like to introduce Rachael, the creative DIYer behind
This Is Our Bliss. She was one of the participating bloggers for the One Room Challenge (ORC). The ORC was designed by Linda from Calling it Home and its purpose is to have DIY bloggers put their creativity, perseverance and patience to test by completing a room makeover in six short weeks.
Rachael was super excited to move into her new home this past summer. She couldn't wait to get her decorating hands on her house and make it feel like her home. Since she was participating in the One Room Challenge, she planned to update her dining room. Here is what the dining room looked like before:
This yellow dining room was begging for a stylish makeover and Rachael was happy to oblige. She put together a design plan that included elements that were bold, graphic, and totally glam. Rachael wanted an adult space for entertaining friends, hosting family and sharing food, libations and laughs with loved ones. The space had great architecture and the tray shaped ceiling allowed her to add unexpected pattern and color. While wallpapering a ceiling can be a great way to add visual interest to a space, it's expensive and a hassle to install. That's why stencils are a great alternative. Wall stencils are an easy and inexpensive way to update a space. Rachael browsed our website and selected the
Serenity Allover Stencil Pattern. This large
geometric pattern has a wavy flow to it and is perfect for enhancing a lackluster ceiling.
With her new stencil in hand, Rachael was ready to start her
stenciling project! If you are recreating this project at home, use blue painter's tape to hold the
geometric stencil in place and paint the pattern with a dense foam roller. This particular project features a navy blue hue painted over a flat white paint color. After each section of the stencil was complete, simply untape it and reposition to finish the pattern on the ceiling. For more information on how to stencil, please check out our
stencil tutorials. Let's get to the fun reveal! Are you ready to see how this dining room makeover turned out? Here is Rachael's dining room complete with a stenciled ceiling.
We love how this stencil adds a subtle yet dramatic flair to this ceiling. Rachael wrote on her blog, "You’ll probably hear me say, “Feel head-over-heels-in-love…” or “love at first sight…” when describing some of the key elements in the room, but it is the honest truth." Well we are head over heels in love with her stenciled ceiling!
