A Stenciled Master Bedroom Ceiling Using the Tea House Trellis Stencil

Good morning, my Cutting Edge Stencils friends! Are you feeling a little lazy this Monday morning? Kind of like you just don't want to get out of bed? Well our next project would certainly give you a good reason to lie in bed a little longer. Stenciled ceiling are on the rise. This simple project is an inexpensive way to add the ultimate wow factor to a room. Today we have a master bedroom makeover complete with stenciled ceiling. Come be inspired... We'd like to welcome back Tricia, the DIY decorating enthusiast behind the blog Suburban Bitches. Tricia was one of the participating bloggers for the One Room Challenge (ORC). The ORC was designed by Linda from Calling it Home and its purpose is to have DIY bloggers put their creativity, perseverance and patience to test by completing a room makeover in six short weeks. Tricia's goal was to makeover her master bedroom into a space that is boho chinoiserie chic. Tricia commented, "It was totally fine but absolutely not the vibe I want to go for anymore." Here is the bedroom she started with... Tricia had a big project ahead of her and only six short weeks to complete it. Tricia wanted to enhance her tray ceiling with an awesome geometric pattern. She considered wallpaper but it's such a hassle to put up and it's costly. That's when she decided to use a stencil. Wall stencils make adding pattern to a space simple and inexpensive. Tricia also knew that if she didn't like it then she could simply paint over it. Then she browsed our large collection of stencils and fell in love with the Tea House Trellis Allover Stencil, an exotic over-sized Geometric pattern. Tricia painted the room in Benjamin Moore Simply White OC-117. Then she was ready for the fun part, stenciling! She used blue painters tape to hold the stencil in place on the ceiling. Then she poured her paint into a small tray and painted with a dense foam roller. After each stencil design was painted, Tricia would un-tape the stencil and reposition it until her entire ceiling was painted. Once the stencil was complete, Tricia completed the makeover with several DIY projects. You can read about the details of her One Room Challenge on her blog.
