Stenciling With Beautiful Blue Hues

Stencil Designs For Walls and Home Decor Accessories Painted In Blue

Good morning, my Cutting Edge Stencils friends. The color blue can be bold and bright or soft and soothing. You really can't go wrong when stenciling with this agreeable hue! It evokes a sense of calmness and serenity, making it a great choice for stenciling bedrooms, home decor accessories and even furniture! Let's take a look at a few of our favorite blue stenciled projects...

Warm Blues

Notoriously calming and serene, blue can have very different effects on a room depending on its temperature. Denim, ocean blue, and slate blue are often considered warmer blue hues because they contain hints of red. Color experts tend to say they help make a room feel cozier and more friendly. That's why it's not a surprise that DIY decorators like to use warm blues in social spaces, like the dining room or family room.

Cool Blues

Cool blues are another story. Shades like cobolt, turquoise, and ice blue tend to have yellow in them. This causes the color to recede and make the space appear larger. Color experts explain that cool blues encourage calmness (perfect for a bedroom) and focus (ideal in a home office). Amie from Meme Hill Studio nailed it when she paired this soothing combination of blue hues. She painted an accent wall in this bedroom using our Nadya Damask Stencil, a damask stencil pattern, in Sherwin-Williams Rain. Blue walls are simply serene and they help anchor a neutral color scheme. Like this calming bedroom painted by Andrea, from the Red Egg Design Group. She painted an accent wall using the Marrakech Trellis Allover Stencil in metallic silver over a blue.

Surprisingly, blue works just as well on the floor as it does on the walls. Riptide Finishes Inc. painted this cottage bedroom floor in navy blue and white using the Herringbone Stencil.
