Wall Stencils Can Help Make A Rustic Farmhouse Clock
Welcome back, my Cutting Edge Stencils friends. Farmhouse wall clocks have the perfect combination of rustic appeal and country charm. Unfortunately it can be challenging to find these over-sized wooden wall clocks without the over-sized price tag. Our stencil patterns can help you craft the farmhouse clock of your dreams. Today we're sharing how to make an over-sized wall clock using reclaimed wood and our Farmhouse Clock Wall Stencil.
We'd like you to welcome back Erika, the in-house creative guru at Cutting Edge Stencils. Erika had some left over fence wood in the office studio. Greg, the Cutting Edge Stencils owner, had picked up this old fence wood from a garbage pile at the curb. He decided to turn the old fence wood into a farmhouse style wall clock using our new Clock Stencil. You can see how he built the round base in this post, How To Make a Farmhouse Clock. Since he had extra wood, he crafted a second round base for Erika's project.
For our visual fans, we put together this quick video tutorial about the project!
Erika painted it Cloud White by Benjamin Moore.
Erika wanted to add a subtle typography pattern so she chose our French Poem Craft Stencil. She sprayed the back side of the stencil with repositionable spray adhesive to help hold the stencil in place. Then she positioned the stencil on top of the painted wood circle. Erika used a 4" dense foam roller to paint the pattern in gray.
She made sure she rolled off any excess paint on a piece of paper towel. Too much paint will cause the design to bleed. Once the entire design was painted, Erika lifted the stencil back to reveal the pattern. She repositioned the stencil to continue stenciling the french script across the wood base.
It was already starting to look so pretty! Next, Erika planned to stencil the Farmhouse Clock pattern over the French typography. Erika sprayed the clock stencil with spray adhesive and placed it on top of the wood. Then she evenly loaded the dense foam roller with Benjamin Moore Black paint. Again, she rolled off any excess paint on a piece of paper towel. Too much paint will cause the design to bleed.
Once the entire design was painted, Erika lifted the stencil back to reveal the clock pattern.
To complete the farmhouse clock, Erika used a clock movement kit that had been purchased from Amazon. She attached the clock hands according the directions included in the package.
Are you ready to see how Erika's farmhouse clock turned out? Here it is!
This handmade wooden clock has both character and beauty. We are amazed that old fence wood was turned into such a charming treasure.
