We'd like to welcome Marie, the fashionista and DIY blogger behind Cult Nails. Maria has been on a quest to transform her home with one DIY project at a time. Since she's in military housing and most likely moving in the next couple of months, she's put her efforts into creating gorgeous home decor accessories that can travel with her in the future. Curtains were on the list but finding the right curtains proved to be a challenge. Maria put her DIY cap on and decided to stencil a set of curtains. Here is the scoop on how to stencil curtains (this project comes from Cult Nails):

First you're gonna need this stuff listed below:

• curtain panels (you can find inexpensive curtain panels at Ikea)
• A stencil (for this project the Peacock Feather Allover Stencil was used)
• Dense Foam Roller<--- We prefer the one in this link.
• Painter's tape
• Small paint tray or plastic plate
• Paper towels
• plastic tarp
• Craft paint found at Michaels or JoAnns
• Textile Medium like, Anita's Textile Medium found at your local craft store

1. Gather Materials: Start the stencil project by gathering all of the materials listed above. If it's needed, iron the curtain panels to remove any wrinkles. 2. Secure The Stencil: Find a flat surface to complete your stencil process. Maria used her garage floor. First, she put down a plastic tarp on the floor and then she placed the curtain panel on the tarp. Position the stencil design on the curtain panel. Then you can secure the stencil in place using painter's tape. 3. Start Stenciling: Pour your craft paint onto a plate or paint tray. Mix up the paint with the fabric medium (2 parts paint to 1 part medium). Then dip your dense foam roller into the paint. Roll off the excess paint onto your folded paper towel until the roller looks almost dry. The key to stenciling is using as little paint as possible. Too much paint will cause the design to bleed and smudge. Next you will paint the design onto the curtain panel with the roller. 4. Complete the Pattern: Allow the paint to dry a little and reposition the stencil so you can continue to paint the pattern on the entire curtain panel. Let the paint dry for about two hours. Are you ready to get your tail feathers in a rise over Maria's gorgeous curtains? Here they are hanging in her living room. She says, "I am in love with how they came out." We are too!
