Home Coming. Kayla had been searching for navy pillows with a little patterned flair, but unfortunately she couldn't find anything she liked. After a couple months of searching, she finally caved and bought two navy pillow covers from Ikea. Then her DIY wheels clicked and she decided she could add her own patterned flair. She chose our
Herringbone craft Stencil, a popular geometric pattern. Then she lined up her stencil gear and got ready to craft.
Kayla positioned the stencil on top of the pillow cover and used a bit of painters tape to hold it in place. If you're trying to recreate this project then pour your paint onto a plate or paint tray. Kayla used white fabric paint to paint her design. White over a dark color can be a bit challenging. Dip your stencil brush into the paint (we prefer this
stencil brush) and then brush off the excess paint onto your folded paper towel until the brush looks almost dry. The key to stenciling is using as little paint as possible. Too much paint will cause the design to bleed and smudge. Here she is working through the stencil process.

Kayla also tested it out with a couple of her other throw pillows to see how the pattern worked with her decor. We think it looks awesome!
