Perk Up A Pillow Cover With A Stencil

A Stenciled Pillow Cover Using the Herringbone Stencil

Happy Friday, my DIY friends. Cutting Edge Stencils wants to make sure that before you read through this post that you grab your cup of coffee and fluff up those throw pillows. Now you should be ready to relax. But wait, do those pillows need more to perk them up than just a fluff? We thought so. Stencil patterns are a fun and easy way to glam up any pillow. Today, we have a stencil idea that will perk up those pillow covers. Let's take a look... Kayla had been searching for navy pillows with a little patterned flair, but unfortunately she couldn't find anything she liked. After a couple months of searching, she finally caved and bought two navy pillow covers from Ikea. Then her DIY wheels clicked and she decided she could add her own patterned flair. She chose our Herringbone craft Stencil, a popular geometric pattern. Then she lined up her stencil gear and got ready to craft. If you're trying to recreate this project then pour your paint onto a plate or paint tray. Kayla used white fabric paint to paint her design. White over a dark color can be a bit challenging. Dip your stencil brush into the paint (we prefer this stencil brush) and then brush off the excess paint onto your folded paper towel until the brush looks almost dry. The key to stenciling is using as little paint as possible. Too much paint will cause the design to bleed and smudge. Here she is working through the stencil process.
