How To Stencil Curtains With Arrow Stencils
Stencils Can Transform Your Cutains from Simple To Stylish
Good morning, my
Cutting Edge Stencils friends! Did you know that you could give new life to an old set of curtains simply by using
stencils? Yup, it's true! It's an easy DIY project that will have your windows looking stylish in no time. Today we're going to help you get the hang of stenciling a set of curtains. Let's get started...
We'd like to introduce Amanda, a design enthusiast and avid DIYer behind the blog
Mommy Is Coo Coo. Amanda needed new curtains for her boys' bedroom. She admits that she fell in love with trendy arrow fabric like this one on Amazon.
Adorable! But Amanda couldn't justify spending a ton of money on fabric and then having curtains made. She decided to make her own using a set of existing curtains. The bedroom already had a set of Michael Miller
curtains with blackout lining. Amanda decided to flip the curtains over and stencil directly onto the lining!
Amanda browsed our large collection of
arrow stencils and selected the
Indian Arrows Allover Stencil and the
10 Arrows Stencil Kit.
The first thing she did was iron the existing curtains to remove any wrinkles. Then she found a flat surface to complete her stencil project.
**Be sure to put down a plastic tablecloth and secure it with tape. If the paint bleeds through the drop cloth panel, the plastic tablecloth will catch it.
Amanda poured her craft paint into a small paint tray. Then she lightly coated her
Dense Foam Roller with paint. Be sure to roll off excess paint onto a folded paper towel until the roller looks almost dry. It is important to use as little paint as possible when stenciling. Too much paint will cause the design to bleed and smudge.
For this project, Amanda painted the Indian Arrows pattern along the bottom of the curtain panel in navy blue and gold.
Then she painted the 10 Arrows Stencil Kit randomly on the fabric in bright colors.
Are you ready to see how Amanda's arrow stenciled curtains turned out? Here they are hanging up.
Amanda had this to say about her stencil project, "I am thrilled with how our budget friendly project turned out! I can’t wait to use the stencils again." We think they turned out awesome!
