Make A DIY Holiday Table Runner Using Stencils
Use Stencil Patterns To Make An Elegant DIY Table Runner
Welcome back, my
Cutting Edge Stencils friends. Add flavor to your Holiday dinner table with a DIY table runner featuring one of our
stencil designs. A stenciled table runner is an easy and affordable way to dress up a bland table. Today we're sharing a festive project using our
Jewel Tile Stencil that will bring a level of merriment to your Holiday table.
Erika, our in-house craft guru, scooped up a plain white table runner on sale at HomeGoods. It was functional but lacked the Holiday pizzazz that Erika was seeking. It's a good thing she's so crafty! Erika browsed our large collection of stencils and decided to use the
Jewel Tile pattern. This pretty star pattern was perfect for her Holiday table runner.
Erika placed her white table runner on a flat surface. She taped off the edges of the fabric runner using blue painter's tape to create a solid border. Then she was ready to start
stenciling. She decided to use our medium
Jewel Stencil for this festive decorating project.
She sprayed the back of the stencil with Sticky Note spray adhesive which can be purchased from your local craft store or Amazon. Repositionable spray adhesive can help hold the stencil in place and reduce bleed. She placed the stencil on top of the fabric.
Erika chose to paint the pattern in Jacquard Fabric Paint's Ruby Red using a
2" dense foam roller.
Erika made sure she brushed off any excess paint on a piece of paper towel. Too much paint will cause the design to bleed. Once the entire design was painted, Erika lifted the stencil back to reveal the jewel tile pattern.
Erika wanted to continue the pattern down the fabric runner. She used the registration marks to line up the stencil so she could repeat the pattern.
Erika pealed off the blue tape and revealed her stenciled table runner. This project was super simple and Erika completed it in less than an hour. Are you ready to see how her project turned out? It's perfect for decorating her table for the Holidays!
Erika completed her dining room table with red plates and garland. We certainly think her guests will enjoy her cheerful celebration.
