Learn How To Stencil A Concrete Balcony
Stencils Can Make Your Balcony The Perfect Retreat!
Good morning, my DIY savvy friends. Naturally warm weather means spending more time outdoors. Cutting Edge Stencils believes you should truly enjoy your outdoor space as much as you enjoy your indoor space. So if you've been neglecting your outdoor area then now is the time to step up your game. Decorating your outdoor space doesn't has to break the piggy bank. In fact, paint and pattern are the perfect way to spruce it up and create your own designer looking oasis. We'd like you to meet Susan, the creative DIYer and blogger behind Change of View. Susan decided her balcony needed a makeover and after debating on what to do, she chose to paint the concrete balcony floor. Susan started to investigate the project a little more and discovered Annie Sloan Chalk Paint was perfect for her project. Here's a before shot of her balcony. To start the project, Susan first cleaned the concrete and then she was ready to paint. ** We suggest using a primer prior to painting because a primer is used for optimal paint and stain adhesion. Susan chose to paint the concrete balcony using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Duck Egg. After two coats of paint were applied, she was ready to start stenciling. She fell in love with one of our geometric stencil patterns, the Chain Link Allover stencil. Susan used blue painters tape to hold the stencil in place and a dense foam roller to apply the paint. Before applying the paint, she would off roll the roller on a piece of paper towel to ensure there wasn't too much paint on it. Then she used a very light amount of pressure when painting the design. Because the concrete is porous, she needed to be extra careful about paint seepage under the stencil design so it was super important that she didn't over coat the roller with paint. Susan continued the geometric design across her balcony. Are you ready to see what a drastic difference her stencil makes to her balcony? We thought so! Susan added some balcony decor and potted plants. She was super happy with her new balcony design. She said, "After many many days of rain here in the northeast, I must say...the floor has held up beautifully!"Tell us what you think about this stenciled balcony project. Leave us a comment below!
