HGTV Uses Stencil Patterns For A Furniture Makeover Project
Good morning, my Cutting Edge Stencils friends! We were browsing one of our favorite DIY and home decorating sites, HGTV, when we spotted our stencil designs used in a pretty furniture makeover project. The clever site paired up with Benjamin Moore Paints to craft an inspiring video. They wrote, " Discover new ways to transform everyday household items with a just a coat of paint and get inspired by the hottest hues for spring." Paint A Dresser Four Ways
The creative publication found a plain dresser and shared with fans four ways they could give it a dose of personality. You can watch the entire video here but we're going to focus on the stenciling options!
The plain pine dresser had a ton of possibilities. An easy way to give it a fresh new look was with our Kuba Chevron Stencil. This trendy stencil pattern was designed by Kim Myles and combines both tribal and geometric influences.
The first thing they did was paint the dresser two shades of blue using Benjamin Moore Paint.
The woman in the video positioned the stencil on the front of the dresser and used a bit of painters tape to hold it in place.
If you're trying to recreate this, pour your paint onto a plate or paint tray. The darker blue was used to paint for the pattern. Roll your dense foam roller into the paint. Be sure to roll off the excess paint onto your folded paper towel until the roller looks almost dry. The key to stenciling is using as little paint as possible. Too much paint will cause the design to bleed and smudge.
Next you will paint the design onto the dresser with the dense foam roller.
You can touch up with a sponge stippler or a stencil brush.
Once a section of the pattern is complete, you'll need to reposition the stencil to complete the design. Simply pick up the stencil, align it, and continue painting the pattern.
After the paint is dry, attach new knobs to complete the look of the newly painted dresser. Are you ready to see how it all turned out?
