Craft Stencils Are Used To Decorate Beehives For Charity Organizations

Good morning, my Cutting Edge Stencils friends. It's no secret that Greg and Janna, the owners of Cutting Edge Stencils, are passionate beekeepers. In fact, a couple of years ago this creative couple stenciled their own beehives. They purchased plain beehives that were preassembled but not painted. Once the hives were painted, they were ready to stencil. Greg and Janna used our craft stencils to decorate the once plain wooden hives. The pretty patterns were stenciled using Benjamin Moore's Tequila Lime. Look at how they pop in the garden! In the April issue of Bee Culture Magazine, the beekeeping publication mentions that third grade children were introduced to beekeeping and were given a chance to paint beehives. This educational program is a fun way to get children involved and to increase awareness on the benefits of beekeeping. Cutting Edge Stencils donates craft stencils to help stencil beehives for local hospitals. http://www.cuttingedgestencils.com/collections/craft-stencils-furniture-stencils After reading this story, Janna fell in love with the program and reached out to Toni Burnham, a beekeeper from Washington DC and program coordinator. Toni was thrilled about the possibility of using our Craft Stencils to decorate beehives. She is currently working on organizing another painting event with a local school district. In the meantime, Toni introduced Janna to Rebecca Clerget, a local pastry chef for Dog Tag Bakery, who also decorates beehives for charity. Rebecca had teamed up with Pete, a disabled veteran and non-profit founder for Fields of Valor. Rebecca and Pete are currently working on painting beehives for Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, D.C. Their program plans to place decorative hives at the hospital that will be tended by returned Iraqi War verterens. The hives themselves will be used for both training and therapy in their culinary arts agenda. Additionally the hospital plans to engage members of the assisted living and rehab community since they will be located on the rooftop and viewable from patient windows. Janna sent Rebecca several of our craft stencils and she stenciled up these cuties. The red, white and blue beehives were painted to honor Fields of Valor and the Dog Tag Bakery. The blue and yellow hives are to honor the Johns Hopkins Sibley Momorial Hospital.
