"Storage" Magazine Features Stenciled Rooms!
Stencils Recognized in Storage Magazine's Spring 2013 Issue

Cutting Edge Stencils has some pretty gosh darn exciting news! WE HAVE BEEN FEATURED, AGAIN! This time, you can spot our
stencil designs lining the very well organized pages of
Storage Magazine, a Special Interest Publication from
Better Homes and Gardens! We were thrilled to see our
Birch Forest and
Zamira patterns looking extra bold and sophisticated under the title of such a prestigious publication!
The two rooms featured were designed by the ever so talented blogger, Jen, from
I Heart Organizing! She painted her Zamira dressing room as her first ever
stencil project, and was so pleased with the results that she put our
stencils back to use to create her Birch Forest playroom! The rooms' designs are out of this world (obviously since they were
featured in a magazine!), and we'd like to let you in on how Jen created the walls!
Zamira Dressing Room
Jen's basement was quite a "plain-Jane" space until she got a hold of
Cutting Edge Stencils' Zamira pattern. She followed our
stenciling instructions to the "T," using our stencil level, painters tape, spray adhesive, and dense foam roller to get pristine results! The paint color? Jen used,
straight non-tinted white flat paint from Glidden. The corners were NOT neglected, as Jen bent the
stencil to fit the crease of the corner and used a stencil brush, allowing the paint to reach the edges. Excess paint was blotted off onto a paper towel before the roller and brush touched the wall, so that there would be no runs or bleeds in the design. Because of the registration marks, Jen had an easy time lining the
stencil up repeatedly to create an
allover pattern. Also, something good to know is that before Jen started painting the wall, she tested the
stencil on a cardboard box to get a little practice.
Birch Forest Playroom
To create her Birch Forest playroom, Jen used the same technique as her prior
stencil project for another room with flawlessly
stenciled results! First Jen taped off her the endges of her white walls so as to not dirty up the trim. This time, instead of using a paper towel to rid excess paint, Jen rolled her dense foam roller onto an empty painting tray. The second time around, Jen swore by her spray adhesive, saying, "And I can't stress enough the importance of spray adhesive. It makes for a sticky mess, but it really helps keeping the stencil flush against the wall while rolling, giving much crisper lines." For this enchanting forest blue, Jen used two coats of
Behr's Seven Seas paint! Jen blow dried the painted areas in between coats to reduce the risk of smudging! She and her husband even managed to wrap the intricate design around the door frame! Totally amazing!
