Think Outside the Box with Wall Painting Stencils

Get Creative with Some of our Smaller Wall Stencils

We bow down to the creative ways our spunky DIYers get crafty with our stencil designs. Cutting Edge Stencils is super impressed with how our friends at Uncommon Designs used our Butterfly Stencils to transform a simple garment into a fabulous embellished hoodie. Who says wall stencils are just for the walls? Butterfly Bloom #3 Wall Art Stencil The ladies at Uncommon Designs chose to use our Butterfly Bloom #3 Wall Art Stencil to create this awesome look. Here’s what they did: First, they collected the necessary supplies: stencil, paint, garment, sponge applicator, painter’s tape, and poster board. Supplies to stencil with To get the project rolling, the hoodie was laid on a flat surface with a piece of poster board placed underneath. Quick Tip: Tape the garment directly to the flat surface to reduce wrinkling and movement. They decided to place the stencil in the middle of the fabric and fasten it with small pieces of painter’s tape. Another option: use adhesive spray to get a tighter seal between the fabric and stencil. Butterfly Bloom #3 Wall Art Stencil Then for the fun part! The paint was pressed on with the sponge applicator to create a gorgeous design, but we also recommend a stencil brush or dense foam roller. For best results: when stenciling on fabric, add some textile medium (sold in craft stores) to your stencil acrylics and stir it in well. Butterfly Bloom #3 Wall Art Stencil Make it last: Heat setting the stencil after it dries will prevent wear and tear in the wash. Slowly iron the stenciled fabric by pressing the iron for about 20 seconds on a low setting through the piece of cloth. Feel free to reuse the stencil for other projects since Cutting Edge Stencils' durable stencil will last through many future uses. Want to create your own embellished clothes? Thanks for stopping by!
