Easily Create A Bone Inlay Dresser Using Stencils
A Furniture Stencil Helps Craft A DIY Bone Inlay Dresser
Welcome back, my
Cutting Edge Stencils friends. The look of bone inlay furniture is gorgeous but it often comes with a hefty price tag that is not affordable. Acquiring this sought after style has never been easier when using one of our
furniture stencils. Today we're sharing a DIY bone inlay dresser that was created using our
Indian Inlay Stencil Kit from the
Kim Myles Global Glam Stencil Collection.

We'd like to introduce Lynda, the creative DIYer behind the blog
Handmade Interior. Lynda has always loved the look of bone inlay furniture. She said, "I've always regretted not bringing a bone inlay chest of drawers back from my time in India. I love the style and so appreciate the craftsmanship involved in producing such an intricate piece of furniture." Lynda saw this gorgeous piece of inspiration on the Anthropologie website.

A bone inlay dresser is gorgeous but it's also super expensive. Lucky for Lynda, our
Indian Inlay Stencil can achieve a similar look for a fraction of the price. She found the perfect plain dresser for her project and prepped it with a coat of black paint.

Then she was ready for the fun part, stenciling! Lynda carefully taped the
bone inlay pattern down using blue painter's tape and painted the pattern in white using a stencil brush. She made sure she brushed off any excess paint on a piece of paper towel. Too much paint will cause the design to bleed. After each section was painted, she would carefully remove the stencil and reposition so she could finish the design.

After the entire dresser was stenciled, Lynda coated it with a clear satin spray and then placed pretty white ceramic knobs on the front.

Are you ready to see how it all turned out? Here is Lynda's DIY bone inlay stenciled dresser.

Lynda commented, "These stencils were great to work with and gave so many options to create a great looking stenciled version of a beautiful Indian bone inlay chest." We think her project was a huge success.
