Wall Stencils Can Make An Old Coffee Table Look Like New!
Good morning, my Cutting Edge Stencils friends. Beautiful custom furniture can seem like dream not a reality when shopping at your local furniture store. How happy would you be if I told you we could help make your furniture dreams come true? Paint, our furniture stencils, and a dash of creativity is all that it takes to turn an old furniture into a custom piece. We are excited to share a coffee table makeover using the French Poem Craft Stencil that is sure to inspire. Remember to pin now, so you can complete it later!
We'd like to welcome back Meredith, the creative DIYer and furniture makeover queen behind the blog Arts and Classy. Meredith loves to find curbside trash and turn them into DIY treasures. She especially enjoys giving old furniture a fresh new look so when she spotted this old coffee table in the trash she knew it had potential. Here is what it looked like before its makeover.
This little table was really worn when she got her hands on it. You can read all about how she repaired the table and prepped it on her blog. We're going to focus on the stenciling. Meredith painted it using Deco Art Chalk Paint – Color Vintage. She had our pretty French Poem Craft Stencil from a previous project. This beautiful typography stencil looks hand-written which adds to its romantic look. It's also resusable so Meredith can get many furniture projects completed with one stencil.
Meredith positioned the typography stencil pattern on the top of the table. Then she painted the pattern using Modern Masters Metallic Gold.
If you're trying to recreate this, pour your paint onto a plate or paint tray. Roll your dense foam roller into the paint. Roll off the excess paint onto your folded paper towel until the roller looks almost dry. The key to stenciling is using as little paint as possible. Too much paint will cause the design to bleed and smudge. Painter's tape can help hold the stencil in place. Next you will paint the design onto the dresser with the dense foam roller. Once the pattern is complete, you'll need to reposition the stencil to complete the design. Simply pick up the stencil, align it, and continue painting the pattern.
To finish the project, Meredith dipped about 8 inches of the table legs into metallic gold paint. For the complete tutorial, check out Meredith's blog Arts and Classy. But let's move onto the big reveal! Here is her stenciled coffee table!
