Give Old Furniture A Facelift Using Stencils
Wall Stencils Can Give Old Furniture A Fresh New Look
Good morning, my
Cutting Edge Stencils friends. Old furniture doesn't need to be tossed to the curb. Consider giving your old pieces some new life using paint and our
stencil designs. We are excited to share two furniture projects using the
French Poem Allover Stencil. These trash to treasure makeovers are sure to inspire because of their simplicity and beauty. Remember a project like this simply requires one of our
furniture stencils and a dash of creativity. Come take a look.
These two furniture makeover projects use our
French Poem Stencil. This beautiful typography stencil looks hand-written which adds to its romantic look. It can certainly compliment any furniture facelift.
We'd like to introduce Nancy, the creative DIYer and furniture makeover queen behind the blog
Artsy Chicks Rule. Nancy participated in a fun blogger challenge called Trash to Treasure Tuesday. In this creative challenge, bloggers take curbside finds and turn them into unique treasures. Nancy had picked up an old table for about $5. It was really beat up and in bad shape but it was solid wood. Nancy explains how she transformed this beat-up beauty on her
blog but we are going to focus on the
stenciling! She positioned the typography
stencil pattern on the top of the small table. Then she painted the pattern using Dixie Belle Chalk paint in white. If you're trying to recreate this, pour your paint onto a plate or paint tray. Roll your dense foam roller into the paint. Roll off the excess paint onto your folded paper towel until the roller looks almost dry. The key to stenciling is using as little paint as possible. Too much paint will cause the design to bleed and smudge. Painter's tape or spray adhesive can help hold the stencil in place. Next you will paint the design onto the small side table with the dense foam roller. Nancy had this to say about her furniture makeover, "This was a pretty simple makeover. Such an elegant, beautiful, well made, solid wood table… for FIVE bucks! Can’t beat that! " We love her little stenciled transformation!
Next up, we'd like to introduce Ana from
Lulu Castle Design. Her shop is filled to the brim with beautiful stenciled pieces and she continues to dazzle us with creative ideas each day on Facebook. Ana got her hands on an old server. Worn and dated but full of potential in her eyes. Ana chose to paint it and stencil it using our pretty
French typography pattern. Ana painted the base of the server in two shades of gray and then stenciled the pretty pattern in the darker gray hue. Ana had this to say about her project, "Before and After... it looks so refreshing after the transformation! " Amazing, Ana! We love when old furniture gets a fresh new look.
