Welcome back, my Cutting Edge Stencils friends. A few coats of paint can really help spruce up an old piece of furniture. But if you're looking to take your old furniture to a whole new stylish level then inject it with personality using one of our furniture stencils. Today we're sharing how to turn those garage sale finds into a treasured piece using our Prism Geometric Stencil.
Erika, our in-house craft guru, has been working on some fun furniture makeover projects. Watch this quick tutorial showing how she transformed an old wooden table using our Prism Stencil.
Let's walk through the steps for this project. Erika spotted a small wooden side table at a local garage sale. Here is what it looked like:
The table was dated and beat up but it still had lots of life left. Erika decided to liven up it up with paint and a stencil pattern. She rounded up the supplies for this project.
The first thing she did was clean off the table and lightly sand it to remove any debris. Erika painted the table using STIX primer.
She painted the bottom half of the table in Benjamin Moore Balsam Green and the top in Benjamin Moore Navajo White.
Once the table was painted, Erika was ready to start stenciling! She browsed our large collection of stencils and chose the Prism Geometric Pattern. The crisp geometric pattern was perfect for her wow-worthy piece.
Erika applied spray adhesive to the back of the stencil. We like to use Sticky Note spray adhesive which can be purchased on Amazon. Then she placed the stencil on the top of the table.
Erika decided to paint the geometric pattern in black and gray. She used a stencil brush to paint the pattern.
She made sure she brushed off any excess paint on a piece of paper towel. Too much paint will cause the design to bleed.
Erika painted the entire pattern on to the table. Once the entire design was painted, she lifted the stencil back to reveal the eye-catching pattern.
Erika applied a top coat to seal and protect her stencil pattern. She used Varethane waterbased polyurethane. Are you ready to see how Erika's stenciled side table turned out? Here it is!
