The Zinnia Stencil Blooms On Furniture Makeovers

Stencils Can Easily Refresh Old Furniture With A New Look!

Good morning, my DIY friends. Walking into a thrift store can bring a sense of thrill and excitement especially when you find a hidden gem. Old furniture is full of potential. Sometimes all it takes is a fresh coat of paint and a pretty pattern. Cutting Edge Stencils is here to share two furniture makeover projects using our Zinnia Grande Flower Stencil. Heather won the Zinnia Grande stencil from a blog giveaway and had the perfect project in mind for her prize. She had a candlestick side table that had a beautiful shape but needed a pattern to enhance its feminine characteristics. She said, " When I got the stencil, I knew I’d found a match for the little table." First Heather painted the table using Annie Sloan's Chalk Paint in Old White. Then she placed the stencil on top of the table in the center. She used painters tape to hold the stencil in place. Heather painted the flower pattern in Annie Sloan's French Linen. Once the paint was dry, she gave it a coat of wax and ran a fine grit sandpaper across the top. Wahla! Anne found a cabinet in a local thrift store. She felt the piece had a ton of potential despite the fact that it needed repairs and a new look. She was up for the challenge so she bought the cabinet. The first thing she did was paint it with a silver metallic finish. Anne said, "For extra interest, I stenciled big "Zinnia Grande" blooms on the sides in red and dark silver." Anne used painters tape to hold the stencil in place while she painted the pattern using a stencil brush. Once the stencil was complete, she painted on a glaze. To complete the makeover, Anne added a shiny chrome handle and nickle knobs. There you have it, a stenciled cabinet makeover.
