A Bright & Cheery Stenciled Playroom
Good morning,
Cutting Edge Stencils fans! Are you reading this just after you finished tossing the 20th toy into your child's playroom? While decorating a child's play space can be lots of fun, it can also be super stylish especially when you pack it with the right colors and personality. A
stencil design is the perfect way to add pattern and personality to a room. Whether you are adding pattern to a whole room or just an accent wall, it's easy to get the look of designer wallpaper with our interlocking
wallpaper stencils. Today we have a playroom that's bright, cheery and works well with the main living space.
We'd like to welcome back Karen, the proud mama and creative DIYer behind the blog
A House Full of Sunshine. Karen has a beautiful home and if you jump over to her blog be sure you check out her home tour. She had chosen a gray and yellow color scheme for her living room and since the playroom is an adjoining space, she wanted to make sure she had good color flow. Aside from the color scheme, Karen also wanted to add a striking feature wall that was stylish, as well as inviting and cheery.
It was a plain white room but with lots of potential. Karen said, "I've been seeing birch tree feature walls popping up all over the place lately, and I love how they are dramatic yet natural, and give the feel of bringing the outdoors in." So it was no surprise when she chose our
Birch Forest Allover stencil pattern. The serene
Birch Forest wall pattern brings a sense of peaceful relaxation into the room.
With her stencil in hand, she was ready to start
stenciling! Karen wanted to add a splash of sunshine to the play space so she chose to paint the nature-inspired pattern in Dulux Sunbound, a bright cheery yellow. She used blue painters tape to adhere the stencil to the wall and a dense foam roller to paint the pattern. To ensure the pattern was straight, she used our
clip-on stencil level. Here's a shot of her working through the stencil process.
After the
nature wall pattern was complete, Karen completed several DIY projects which you can read about on her
blog. Are you ready to see what her stenciled playroom looks like? Karen had this to say about her stenciled playroom, "I was thrilled with the overall effect of the pattern.Everyone who's seen that wall has at first assumed it was wallpaper. Score!"
