Taryn has been working on her master bedroom makeover for quite awhile. Here is a picture of her bedroom before the makeover. Master bedroom before the makeover. We can totally see why she wanted to give this space a makeover. She started pinning some bedroom ideas and came up with a game plan. Taryn said, "My goal was to give this space a big facelift. I wanted to brighten the space and make it a little more modern and a little more me. I was originally worried about keeping the dark furniture, but by lightening the walls, adding more white and completely changing the design, I now see this furniture in an entirely different way. I actually like it again!" To help brighten the space she painted our Fuji Allover Stencil on an accent wall behind the bed. She painted the walls a soothing gray, Cosmopolitan by Benjamin Moore. Then she used blue painters tape to adhere her stencil to her accent wall. Using a dense foam roller, she painted the geometric pattern in DecoArt's white acrylic. As time went on, Taryn admitted, "Well, it finally came time to finish the space when I realized that it just wasn’t working for me. It’s not that I didn’t like it, it just wasn’t ME. " Taryn's style tends to be more rustic and cozy rather than gold glam. She noticed that she had wood elements in her other rooms and she was missing this feature in her bedroom. Taryn loved her stenciled feature wall so she wanted to keep it but adjust other elements in the room to fit her personality. She took down the gold frames and replaced them with a DIY barnwood wall art. Then she updated the nightstands so they had a rustic natural wood top. Taryn swapped out the gold lamps for a set of faux antique ones. Here is her new master bedroom!
