Stencils Can Recreate Your Favorite Wallpaper Look

Good morning, my happy hosts. Cutting Edge Stencils is curious if you have guests coming to stay with you this summer. If the answer is yes, then you might want to pay careful attention to this post since a stenciled makeover might be in your future. We're pretty sure that you want your guests staying in a room that's slightly better than the local dive motel, right? Then come take a look at this stenciled guest bedroom idea that will have your out of town guests lined up at the door for an overnight visit!

We'd like you to meet Heather, the creative DIYer from That Red Headed Sister. Heather had a lackluster guest bedroom and she was given free reign to give it a makeover. She knew she wanted to do something different, something outside her comfort zone. Here is a picture of the space before the glam pattern makeover: Heather knew she wanted to create an accent wall so she turned to Pinterest for inspiration. That's when she stumbled upon this, a gorgeous bedroom designed by Nathan Walker. Well Heather went on a wallpaper hunt, only to discover that her dream wallpaper had been discontinued. She was super bummed but not for long. Heather realized our new Tamara Trellis stencil closely resembled the pattern she craved. Her DIY light bulb went off and she decided to stencil her accent wall! Pretty close, huh? Heather wanted this bedroom to be fun and chic so she selected a navy and coral color combination. She chose the wall behind the bed to be the stenciled accent wall. First she painted it a saturated shade of navy, similar to Benjamin Moore's hale navy HC-154. Then she painted the Tamara Trellis stencil in a color similar to Benjamin Moore's butterfield 897. Heather used painters tape to keep her stencil in position while she painted the Moroccan pattern using a dense foam roller. Ready to see how it all turned out? Here it is folks! And this is a close-up of the gorgeous stencil work. Of course, Heather says she still has a ton of work to do on this room to complete the space but we think the progress so far is awesome!
