A Scallop Stenciled Accent Wall In A Bold Bright Hue

Happy Tuesday , my color loving friends! Gray, beige, and white are often the neutral colors of choice when decorating a home. We, at Cutting Edge Stencils, see a lot of neutral painted walls that get dressed up with colorful decor accessories. There's nothing wrong with that but when we see a stenciled space in a bright hue, it makes our heart skip a beat. So when we spotted today's stencil project, let's just say our heart was jumping! Come take a look. We'd like you to meet Kelsey, the creative DIY blogger behind The Doodle House. Kelsey fell in love with the idea of wallpapering an accent wall in her home. As she sat debating which wall to decorate with a pretty pattern, she began to worry about how difficult it was to put up and take down. Since she loves to redecorate her space on a whim, permanent wallpaper seemed like a bad idea. That's when she discovered stenciling! It was love at first sight. Kelsey said, "For whatever reason, stenciling seems more manageable. I mean, it’s essentially painting, and your girl has painted her fair share of walls before. It also seems to be a cheaper alternative to ordering designer wallpaper." She chose to stencil a pattern on her lime green wall in the living room. Here is the space before the makeover. It was certainly filled with color but it lacked pattern. Kelsey said, "I’ve always been a fan of bright and bold patterns on my blankets and pillows, so an entire wall of a retro and repetitious pattern is right up my alley." That's right up our alley as well. Kelsey purchased our Scallop Allover stencil pattern, an eye-catching geometric design, to apply to her lime green wall. She used blue painters tape to adhere the stencil to the wall and a dense foam roller to paint on the pattern. Here is she is working through the stenciling process. Kelsey painted the geometric design in white. Once the pattern was complete, it was time to step back and enjoy it. We love the bold color combination paired with the stencil pattern. Kelsey says, "Since it has been up, I find myself zoning out on the couch, getting lost in the sequence of scallops." Even these two love the wallpaper like look of the Scallop stenciled accent wall.
