A Houndstooth Stenciled Bedroom Idea for Kids That is Sure to A-MAZE!

DIY lovelies! Hope ya'll had a fun
stencil-filled weekend! We can hardly contain our giddy glee here at
Cutting Edge Stencils. Because while we were out enjoying the beautiful Spring weather that has finally hit Northern New Jersey, our friend Rebecca was putting together the final touches on her two son's shared bedroom. At this point I'm going to have to ask you to have your kidlets leave the room because if they spot this awesome space they'll be begging for you for a stenciled bedroom makeover!
Meet Rebecca, one of the crafty gals responsible for
Petite Party Studio, and her newly revealed
Houndstooth Stencil bedroom for her two sons! Do you want me to wait a minute while you pick your jaw up off the ground? See I told you it was going to be uber cool!
Rebecca decided to share her space on
Project Nursery, a fabulous children's design blog that shares kid's rooms design ideas to inspire other parents. Here is what the wall looked like before she got started. As you can see it's a pretty plain space lacking some fun color and patterned character.
Rebecca had two little boys that were going to be sharing a room. Her space was limited so she had to be creative in her design. She knew she wanted it to be fun, playful, and filled with pattern and color. Rebecca planned to give the boys a fun beach themed space. She cleverly created the two boys beds out of
palettes and then crafted the tiny accents that you see throughout (like that
diy swing shelf). But the space was still lacking in patterned color and that's when her DIY wheels clicked! She decided nothing could be better than a bold blue and white
Houndstooth pattern painted on an accent wall!
Here she is working through the stenciling process. She used frog tape to hold the stencil in place while she painted and the clip-on stencil level to position it. Rebecca says, "I highly recommend getting the clip-on
stencil level—this makes the process so much easier!"
See I told you this bedroom was just downright BLUE-TIFUL! What a difference the stencil makes on the accent wall in the bedroom, don't ya think?
The blue and white houndstooth stencil really packs a punch in what used to be a simple white bedroom before. To get this look consider using Benjamin Moore's
santa clara 753 and
simply white OC-117. This eye-catching modern combination of hues creates a burst of cool, confident color, perfect for a surfer themed bedroom! Then add the perfect pop of green like Benjamin Moore's
stem green 2029-40 as an accent color. It's truly a mini surfer's dream beach pad! Rebecca says, "This was just the fabulousness I needed to complete the space. The painted houndstooth wall detail is an amazing addition, and the boys love it!" We bet they do too!
