Freshen Your Foyer With Stencils

Stencils Are an Easy and Affordable Way to Freshen Up a Foyer

Good morning, my DIY friends. Cutting Edge Stencils hopes everyone is surviving the winter. In northern NJ we're gearing up for yet another snow storm. Do you know what's great about being stuck inside on these snowy days? The chance to complete all those stencil projects on our to-do list. So as you put away those snow boots and hang up that coat, don't be surprised if the dull drum of winter sparks a few projects, like freshening up the foyer. The foyer or entryway of a house can really set the tone for a home. Let's take a look at a fab makeover story.

Meet Rita Joy, a decorating enthusiast and avid DIYer behind the blog Harbour Breeze Home, and admire her foyer makeover featuring one of our wall stencils. But let's start from the beginning. Rita Joy despised her foyer and struggled with finding the perfect foyer color. Finally after five paint samples, she landed on Benjamin Moore's white down 970. She loved it...for the most part. Well I guess you could say she really liked it, except for the main wall. The lighting was poor and unless it was a super sunny day, the space felt dreary. So what did Rita Joy do? Well after being stuck inside on a dreary day, she decided to give her dreary space a stenciled makeover. Here is the white foyer, that Rita Joy started with... A foyer before it was stenciled with the Nagoya pattern. http://www.cuttingedgestencils.com/products/japanese-stencil-nagoya Rita Joy wanted to feel happy every time she walked through the door and her white entryway was just not doing it. She knew she didn't want to just repaint it but she did want to give the space a pick me up. She had an ah-ha moment and decided to treat the wall more like a feature wall. Rita Joy selected the Nagoya Allover Stencil, and to break up the wall into two sections. On the lower section she painted Behr's Polar Bear White. On the upper half of the wall, she stenciled Polar Bear White over the existing White Down hue. Here she is working through the stenciling process. Here is Rita Joy's fantastic and fresh foyer. She had this to say about her newly stenciled space, "I can’t get over how much brighter it is." We think the Nagoya Allover Stencil makes a world of a difference! Did you know this was Rita Joy's first time stenciling? She said, "It was my first time stenciling on walls, and I think it could become addictive." We're so happy that she loves her stenciled space and we're even happier to hear that she's been bitten by the stenciling bug.
