On Cloud Nine With A Stenciled Girl's Bedroom
Wall Patterns Add Whimsy and Fun To A Child's Bedroom
Good morning, my
Cutting Edge Stencils friends! Are you getting ready to transition your nursery into a toddler bedroom?
A playful wall stencil pattern and pretty color palette can create the perfect decorating combination for your not-so-little one. Let's take a look at a big girl bedroom design that effortlessly combines a sweet color combination and a whimsical kid's room stencil. We love how our Clouds Stencil was painted in this sweet space.
We'd like to introduce Lindi, a self-taught crafter with a passion for all things DIY. She's also the blogger behind
Love Create and Celebrate. Lindi signed up to participate in a project called the One Room Challenge which was designed by Linda from
Calling it Home. The purpose of the fun challenge was to have DIY bloggers put their creativity, perseverance and patience to test by completing a room makeover in six short weeks. Lindi was about to welcome baby number two in six weeks and the plan was to put the baby into the nursery and move her daughter into a big girl bedroom. She planned to turn the former office into a bedroom for her daughter. Here is what the former office looked like before its makeover.
Lindi had a blank canvas to work with and she was ready to take on the task! She put together an eclectic and modern design plan to transform this dull office space into a dreamy bedroom. Her bedroom design included a
whimsical wall pattern. A
stencil design is a great way to add visual interest and depth to a space without breaking the piggy bank. Lindi browsed our website and selected the
Clouds Allover Stencil. This playful wall pattern can achieve a wallpaper look and is the perfect touch in a little girl's bedroom.
With her stencil in hand, Lindi was ready to start
stenciling. She painted the room Planetary Silver by Behr, a cool gray hue. She used blue painter's tape to hold the
stencil design in place and she painted the cloud pattern in Frost, Funhouse, Wild Geranium, and Lunar Surface by Behr. After each section was complete, she would untape the stencil and reposition to finish the pattern on the accent wall behind the bed. Lindi also found our clip-on stencil level to be very helpful with her project. She said, " That level is key to ensuring that the clouds line up perfectly each time you transfer the stencils." For additional information on how to stencil, we recommend viewing our
stencil tutorials.
After the accent wall was stenciled, Lindi completed several other DIY projects to wrap up her big girl bedroom makeover. You can read all about the transformation on her
blog. Are you ready to see how it all turned out? Here is the stenciled bedroom.
Lindi had this to say about the stencil project, " It looks great, and my daughter LOVES it - so that's a win in my books!." We love this sweet color combination paired with this playful pattern.
