We'd like to introduce Jena, a creative DIYer with a passion for budget friendly decor and the blogger behind Someday Momma. Jena had an outdated ceramic tile floor in her farmhouse style bathroom. Here is what it looked like:
Jena disliked the dated and dirty looking tile floor but she couldn't afford to rip it up and replace it. So she put her DIY thinking hat on and found an affordable alternative. Jena had stumbled upon a stenciled floor project and decided to attempt. She browsed our large collection of tile stencils and selected our August Tile Pattern. This beautiful pattern is based on traditional Portuguese Azulejos tile designs.

The first thing Jena did was clean her floor to ensure there wasn't any debris and then she painted two coats of chalk paint in white. With her stencil in hand, Jena was ready to start stenciling! She used blue painters tape to hold the stencil in place and a stencil brush to paint the pattern in black. She painted the pattern in light circular brush strokes to slowly build up the color.
After each section was complete, Jena would un-tape the stencil and reposition so she could paint the entire floor.
Once the stencil was complete, she coated the floor with Varathene's polyurethene. It is an oil based product so she did run a fan to keep the space well ventilated.

Jena had this to say about her project, "I painted my bathroom tile! I know that sounds crazy but I love how it turned out. Now I have a Pinterest worthy bathroom on a budget for under $50." We think she did an amazing job and completely turned a drab floor into something fab!
