Made to Fade! An Ombre Stenciled Bathroom
Stenciling An Ombre Bathroom Wall Using The Beads Allover Pattern
Good morning my
Cutting Edge Stencils friends!
Have you jumped on board with loving the ombre paint effect but you're not quite sure how to pull it off? Then we have the perfect DIY project for you featuring one of our fabulous wall stencils using this creative paint technique.
We'd like you to meet Margot, a regular
Hometalk contributor and blogger behind The Chirping Frog. Margot loves a fun DIY challenge so it was a no brainer to include her in the Hometalk #Shareathon. What exactly is a Hometalk #Shareathon? Well we teamed up with Hometalk to provide their popular contributors with
wall stencils and challenge them to a DIY project that they would share with fans on the popular DIY site. Margot's bathroom was begging for a makeover and after accepting the challenge, she knew exactly where she planned to use her stencil. She browsed the large selection of stencils online and fell in love with the
Beads Allover Stencil, a popular geometric.
Margot decided to add a design twist to her stenciled wall project. She liked the idea of painting the contemporary pattern with an ombre effect. Ombre is a blending of colors to create a fading effect. So when talking about ombre painted walls, it’s basically blending 2 or more colors on the wall.
Margot started the project by spraying the reusable stencil with a removable spray adhesive to hold it in place on the wall. This worked best in keeping the large geometric pattern in place. Then she used a stencil brush to paint the pattern. She was careful not to load too much paint on her brush because this would have caused the design to bleed. She also found the
Clip-on Stencil level to be really helpful in keeping the pattern straight on the wall.
Margot would start with black at the top of the wall and gradually work to a very light gray.
Once her entire bathroom was stenciled, Margot was ready to share her project. Are you ready to see how it all turned out?
We love how the ombre effect looks using the
Beads Allover Stencil.
Margot had mentioned, "I am thinking of dripping it from the ceiling similar to icing drizzled down the side of a cake." We think she nailed the look she was trying to achieve.
Margot had this to say about her stencil project, "I'm completely in love with the results. "
