How to Wow Your Guests With a Dramatic Stenciled Dining Room

A Dramatic Stenciled Dining Room Using the Anna Damask Stencil

Good morning, my Cutting Edge Stencils friends. We were browsing one of our favorite home decor websites, Apartment Therapy, and we spotted a home tour that certainly knew how to mix drama and opulence to create the perfect entertaining space. There’s no better room than the dining room to indulge your dramatic decorating fantasies. Wall stencils are the perfect way to add an elegant pattern that will have dinner guests talking. Let's take a closer look at the stenciled dining room that had our mouths watering! Tess shares the recipe for her stunning dining room decor, "I’m a big fan of historical interiors anywhere from Louis XVI to mid-century modern. I try to make decisions based on how Marie Antoinette would decorate if she were living in a modest manor house in the American South." Today, we're going to take a closer look at her dining room but you can catch the whole home tour on Apartment Therapy. Tess seemed drawn to cool hues like gray and blues for her historic home but in the dining room she embraced a bold color paired with sleek white lines. Rather than choose wallpaper, she went with a hand-painted look for this space. Tess chose our Anna Damask Stencil, a classic damask pattern. To achieve the wallpaper look, she stenciled the Damask pattern in gloss one shade darker than her wall color. The subtle shimmer of the stencil pattern paired with the bold red color combination have a dramatic effect on this space. The dining table was made from reclaimed wood from an old church altar, by Virginia woodcrafter Bryan Black with Concepts Created. The lovely chandelier was purchased from West End Antiques Mall and restored by her husband.
