The Secret To Lighten A Room Is A Stencil
Stencils Can Easily Brighten Up A Room
Welcome back, my Cutting Edge Stencils friends. When your space feels drab and dark, consider using a wall stencil to help lighten it up. A light, refreshing paint color and a trendy wall pattern is all it takes to liven a dull space. Come take a look at a room makeover that follows these tips and see how it turned out! We'd like to introduce Laura, a residential interior designer and the creative DIYer behind the blog Laura Hodges Studio. Laura wanted to brighten her dark dining room. It was a chocolate brown space with limited natural light. Here is what it looked like before. While chocolate brown can be a great color, it just didn't work in this space. It made it feel dark and small so Laura decided to give it a little stenciled pick-me-up. Remember a painted wall pattern is a great alternative to wallpaper and it can be customized based on color preferences. Laura mentions in her blog, " I wanted the room to have some personality and presence. It was the perfect place for an all over stencil to give the room some character." She browsed our large collection of wall stencils online and fell in love with our Rabat Allover Stencil. It's a classic and popular Moroccan wall pattern.
The first thing she did was paint the walls white using Benjamin Moore’s Snowfall White. Then with her stencil in hand, Laura and her husband were ready to start stenciling! They used blue painters tape to adhere the stencil to the wall and a dense foam roller to paint the pattern. They painted the pretty pattern using Martha Stewart’s Bedford Gray, a light and bright neutral hue. After each section was painted, she would un-tape the Rabat Allover Stencil and reposition so she could stencil the entire wall.
