A Stenciled Doormat is the Perfect DIY Gift for the New Homeowner

Good morning, my stenciling homeowners. Cutting Edge Stencils knows that you've been making a list and checking it twice. We'd like you to glance over it one last time. Do you see anyone on there that recently bought a home? From boring blenders to blah bake ware, finding a unique gift for a new homeowner can be a challenge. If you're looking to knock the socks off a new homeowner then we've got the project for you!

Today's project of the day is Stenciled Doormats.

Cutting Edge Stencils shares DIY stenciled doormat ideas that make great DIY holiday gifts for new homeowners. http://www.cuttingedgestencils.com/collections/wall-stencils-stencil-designs

Meet Tonia, the DIY crafter behind the blog The Gunny Sack. Tonia had spotted a stenciled indoor mat on Pinterest and it inspired her to stencil an outdoor mat. She already had our Casablanca Craft stencil from another project and she purchased a plain outdoor rug at Wal-Mart. Unfortunately, Tonia had a couple of mishaps along the way and realized the hard way that stenciling and spray paint don't mix. But even with her mishaps, she managed to pull her project together. She spray painted the doormat in red and then she stenciled the Casablanca pattern in black acrylic craft paint using a dense foam roller. Tonia had this to say about her craft, "I ended up with a cute mat that matches my back door". We love how her stenciled doormat turned out!

Next we'd like you to meet our crafty friend, Whitney, the blogger behind A Mommy’s Life with a Touch of Yellow. Whitney needed a new doormat but couldn't find one that she liked in her price range. She happened to be shopping in Ikea when she spotted this plain SINDAL Door mat for $4.99. The moment she saw it, she knew exactly what she wanted to do! Whitney had our Herringbone Stencil from another DIY project she had done. Don't you love how our stencils are reusable? She decided to paint the stripey pattern in Sea Glass by Americana Deco Art. Whitney says this project was, “Easy Peasy! It seriously took me like 15 minutes, I think.” Read all about the doormat transformation over here. We bet her feet are thanking her every time they step on this!

Meet Michelle, the creative DIYer from Delicate Construction. She found a plain gray doormat for $1 at the dollar store. Armed with our Aspen Stencil and white paint from Home Depot, Michelle gave the doormat a makeover. She had this to say about the transformation, " I am in shock with how cool it came out looking! The lines are sharp and it for sure doesn’t look like a dollar store doormat anymore!" Way to go, Michelle. We think it looks pretty awesome also!
