Tile Stencils Can Create A Beautiful And Affordable Kitchen Backsplash

Good morning, my Cutting Edge Stencils friends. A kitchen backsplash often completes the look of the space. If costly tile has you squashing those backsplash dreams then why not stencil it? The right tile stencil design adds much needed interest with pattern and color. Today we're sharing a kitchen makeover with a stenciled faux tile backsplash using our Fabiola Tile Stencil. Let's take a look... We'd like to welcome back Bonnie, a creative decorative painter and owner of Beautiful on the Inside. Bonnie says, "Add a little WOW to any room in your house by adding a beautiful, hand painted wall! " Well she took her own advice and has been giving her own home some stenciled love lately. On her list of projects, was her kitchen backsplash. Here is what it looked like before the update. It was beige and bare but a tiled backsplash was not an option due to budget restrictions. Since this was a budget friendly kitchen makeover and Bonnie is such a talented decorative artist, she decided to paint a faux tile backsplash using the Fabiola Tile pattern. The faux tile pattern is based on traditional Portuguese Azulejos tile designs. The wall was already painted creamy beige so Bonnie was ready to start stenciling once she had her pattern in hand. Repositionable spray adhesive is always very helpful for a project like this because it can help hold the stencil in place. She used a two inch dense foam roller to paint the pattern in Rust-Oleum American Accents Copper Penny Gloss Metallic Latex. Be sure to roll off any excess paint on a piece of paper towel. Too much paint will cause the design to bleed. Use a stencil brush to paint the harder to reach spots like along the counter and under the cabinets. Also a stencil brush is perfect for painting the grout line stencil. Once the entire design was painted, she carefully removed the Fabiola Tile design from the wall to reveal the design. Seeing the painted pattern is always the fun part! We love the stylish flair that this Spanish inspired tile pattern gives this kitchen space. Bonnie commented, "I'm in love with my new stenciled kitchen backsplash!! No more boring white walls....adds so much character! Love!" Check out this amazing before and after photo!
