Maria admits she has an obsession with botanicals. Recently she participated in the One Room Challenge that is organized by Linda from Calling It Home. The purpose of the ORC is to have DIY bloggers put their creativity, perseverance and patience to test by completing a room makeover in six short weeks. Maria jumped at the chance to participate in this fun decorating challenge and chose to makeover her laundry room with a botanical-inspired look. She planned to use fresh white hues, natural wood, and botanical prints. What better way to incorporate botanical patterns into her home decor than with accent pillows! The first thing she did was browse our accent pillow kits for the perfect botanical patterns. Maria fell in love with the Bermuda Breeze and Fern designs. Our accent pillow stencil kits come with everything needed to complete this easy DIY project including stencil tools. Maria simply selected a white pillow cover and Jacquard Fabric Paint in Apple Green and Emerald Green. The stencil design fits securely on the frame so no tape is needed to hold it in place. Then paint the botanical stencil using a dense foam roller. Maria poured the paint onto a foam tray and then lightly coated the roller. Be careful not to overload the roller with paint. Roll off the excess paint onto a folded paper towel until the roller looks almost dry. The key to stenciling is using as little paint as possible. Too much paint will cause the design to bleed and smudge.
