Create Rustic Boho Art Using Mandala Stencils

Use Wall Stencils To Make Boho Inspired Wall Art

Welcome back, my Cutting Edge Stencils friends. We all have blank walls, but not everyone is an artist and few of us have the budget to purchase custom works. That's where we step in! Our stencil designs can create gorgeous one-of-a-kind works of art and infuse your home with boho style! Today we're sharing how to make rustic artwork using reclaimed wood and our Passion Mandala Stencil. We'd like to introduce Danielle Weston, a creative DIYer and Cutting Edge Stencils fan. She decided to jump on the boho decor trend and make a rustic piece of wall art for her home office using reclaimed wood and our Passion Mandala Stencil. Danielle scooped up some old wood for her project. She placed the boards together and used a wood glue to hold panels together. This created her wood canvas. The wood glue should dry over night before staining and stenciling. The wood canvas should be lightly sanded after the glue is dry and before beginning the project. Once the wood canvas was prepped and ready to go, Danielle was ready to start stenciling. She decided to use one of our Mandala stencils for this fun project. She selected the 36 inch half medallion Passion Mandala Stencil, this intricate design makes a wonderful accent for any home. Danielle decided to stain her wood canvas. She brushed the stain on using a bristle brush and used a product similar to Varethane Stain in chestnut. Danielle let the rich stain hue absorb into the wood and then she was ready to start stenciling! She placed the stencil on top of the stained wood and used blue painter's tape to hold it into place. She painted the Mandala pattern in Benjamin Moore Aura White using a dense foam roller. If you are recreating the project at home, be sure to roll off any excess paint on a piece of paper towel. Too much paint will cause the design to bleed. Once the entire design was painted, Danielle lifted the stencil back to reveal the pattern. Since it's a half medallion she had to flip the design and complete the other half of the Mandala. Are you ready to see how her boho inspired artwork turned out? It's gorgeous!
