Craft A Wickedly Easy Halloween Porch Sign Using Stencils
Stencil Patterns Make Halloween Decorating Easy and Fun
Good morning, my Cutting Edge Stencils friends! Halloween is creeping up on us and we'd love to enhance your ghoulish decor with a simple yet fun stencil project. This stenciled Halloween sign is guaranteed to greet guest with a festive Halloween spirit. Our Halloween stencil designs are creepy yet playful and are perfect for decorating. Let's take a look at this wickedly fun project.
Erika, our in-house craft guru, decided to cast a spell on our studio entryway with a stenciled Halloween wooden sign. She used our Chevron Alphabet Stencils, Spider Craft Stencil, and our Dancing Rat Craft Stencil. Erika scooped up a quarter inch piece of plywood at Home Depot and had it cut so that it was 4 feet tall and about 12 inches wide. This created her wood canvas. Erika gathered up her materials to paint the sign black. She used Ben by Benjamin Moore and small dense foam roller. She gave the wood a coat of black paint. Once the sign was painted, Erika used a pencil to draw a spider web in the top left corner. When she was happy with the placement and design of the web, she painted it using white craft paint and a small artist brush. Now Erika was ready for the fun part, stenciling! Erika planned on spelling out the word Boo on the sign. She chose our small Chevron Letter Stencils to complete this portion of the project. To help keep the stencil in place, Erika used Sticky Note Spray adhesive on the back of the stencils. Erika let the spray adhesive tack up on the back of the stencil and then placed it on the painted board. She used a two inch dense foam roller to paint the B in Modern Masters oyster. Erika made sure she rolled off any excess paint on a piece of paper towel. Too much paint will cause the design to bleed. Once the entire letter design was painted, Erika lifted the stencil back to reveal the pattern. Erika followed the same process for the letter O. She placed this directly under the B. Her stenciled letters looked amazing against the black background and now she was ready to customize the sign using Halloween Stencils. Erika chose the medium Dancing Rat Craft Stencil. She sprayed the back of the rat stencil with spray adhesive and then place the stencil on the bottom of the painted board. She painted the Dancing Rat Stencil using the small roller in gray craft paint. He's adorably and creepy! The Halloween fun didn't end there! Erika used the small Spider Craft stencil to enhance her spooktacular sign. She painted the creepy crawler in purple near the spider web. She painted the Spiders in green, purple, and orange colors sporadically across the board. Are you ready to see how her stenciled Halloween porch sign turned out? It was wickedly easy to create!
