Learn How To Stencil A Coat Rack Using Moroccan Stencils

Good morning, my Cutting Edge Stencils friends! Is that your coat tossed over the back of a chair? Rather than let the clutter rule your home, take control and add a coat rack. A DIY coat rack is easy to build and you can quickly give it a dose of personality using our stencil patterns. Here is how one crafty blogger used the Rabat Craft Stencil to create her own DIY coat rack. Come be inspired... We'd like to you to meet Kammy, the creative blogger and home makeover queen behind Kammy's Korner. Kammy and her husband had purchased the last house that was a part of their estate, called the Tenant House. The historic looking house had a lot of charm but it had been neglected over the years. Kammy decided to tackle the mudroom first. Here is what the space looked like before. Yikes! This space needed a ton of work. Kammy started to demo the area. Once the space was cleaned up and painted, Kammy felt the mudroom should have a coat rack. Good call! Kammy chose to make her own coat rack. She cut a large piece of wood to fit the wall. Rather than hang a plain coat rack, Kammy added some pattern to her space by stenciling her item. She had previously used the moroccan craft stencil on her stenciled mantel and felt it was perfect for this space. With her Moroccan stencil pattern in hand, Kammy was ready to stencil her coat rack. She used blue painter's tape to adhere the stencil to the wood. Then she painted the stencil pattern in white using a stencil brush. If you are recreating this project at home, be sure to brush off extra paint so it doesn't bleed under the stencil. The key to stenciling is using very little paint. Because the wood was so large, she did need to lift the stencil and reposition to finish her project. Ready to see how it all turned out? Here is her DIY coat rack hanging in her new mudroom.
