Stencil Patterns Can Add Art Deco Glamour To An Old Mirror

Welcome back, my Cutting Edge Stencils friends. A mirror is a great decorative item to add to your decor because it's a wonderful way to add light and depth to the space. Beautiful mirrors often come with a hefty price tag and that's why we're sharing an easy DIY mirror project using the Lexington Craft Stencil. This project will help you turn a plain mirror into a statement piece for your home. Come see... Let's welcome back Erika, our in-house craft guru. Erika found an old wooden mirror at a local garage sale. The mirror had a black and white houndstooth pattern that didn't fit Erika's Art Deco style. It's wooden frame meant it had a ton of potential so she scooped it up. After lightly sanding the top, she primed it with STIX primer. Erika wanted this wall mirror to be a statement piece so chose to paint the frame in Modern Master's metallic gold using a small 2" dense foam roller. Erika let the paint dry before she started stenciling. For this project, she chose the small Lexington Craft pattern. This Art Deco stencil design makes a bold statement with classic Deco styling for craft size projects. Erika applied spray adhesive to the back of the stencil. We like to use Sticky Note spray adhesive which can be purchased on Amazon. Then she centered the Art Deco craft pattern on the mirror frame. For the stencil color, Erika used Benjamin Moore Black. She used a 2" dense foam roller to paint the pattern. She made sure she rolled off any excess paint on a piece of paper towel. Too much paint will cause the design to bleed. Then she painted the entire pattern on to the mirror. Once the entire design was painted, Erika lifted the stencil back to reveal the striking pattern. So cool, right? To continue the pattern across the mirror frame, Erika lined it up and repeated the painting process. Are you ready to see how Erika's stenciled mirror turned out?
