Do Something Crafty Challenge Using Stencils
DIY Projects Using Alphabet Letter Stencils That Are Easy and Fun
Happy Friday, my stenciling friends! It's no secret that Cutting Edge Stencils really enjoys crafting, especially if stencils are involved. So when Vanessa, from See Vanessa Craft, came to us about participating in a Do Something Crafty Challenge, we were totally in!
What is the Do Something Crafty Challenge? Vanessa challenged her clever and oh-so creative contributors to a friendly little craft competition using our Chevron Letter Stencils. Each gal was able to select the letters of their choice, some stenciling supplies and they were told to Do Something Crafty (#DoSomethingCraftyChallenge) with them! The only rule was that they had to use at least one stencil in their project in some way. Other than that, they could think outside of the box and get creative.
We love a good challenge especially when you can see how clever each blogger can be using the same craft supplies. Between today and Monday, we will be sharing the projects on our blog (you can also view them on See Vanessa Craft.) Then voting will kick off on See Vanessa Craft. The blogger with the most votes will be announced on September 19th and will win a $50 stencil gift card.
Project #1: Monogrammed Canvas Tote
Meet Aimee, the crafty blogger behind The Elephant of Surprise. Aimee decided for her project to create a canvas tote bag because in her words, " A girl can never have too many bags, right?" We can't argue with that! She decided to embellish a plain canvas bag with the Chevron Letter Stencil in Martha Stewart Craft Paint in gold. Aimee chose the letter E to give her tote a monogrammed look. She used painters tape to hold her stencil in place on the fabric and a stencil brush to paint the zippy pattern. Check out her blog to see how she did it. Aimee had this to say about her project, " I love my bag, and hope you like it, too!"
Project #2: Burlap Stenciled Wall Art
Meet Jennifer, the awesome DIY blogger behind The Life of Jennifer Dawn. Jennifer had been working on updating her kid's room and needed wall decor to finalize the space. She chose to create personalized wall decor for her project. First she found two canvas boards and covered them with burlap. Then she used our Chevron Letter Stencil to personalize her art pieces. Jennifer used painters tape to hold the stencil in place. Then she painted the zig-zag pattern in orange and blue acrylic craft paint using a stencil brush. She had this to say about her finished project, " These stenciled canvases were a great addition to the room's decor." That's awesome!
Project #3: Stenciled Bed Canopy
Meet Jen, the creative DIY blogger behind Jen A. Street. Jen said, " When I got word that the crafting supply for Do Something Crafty 2014 was going to be stencils I knew I wanted to go big or go home. So naturally, I requested the largest size stencils available." We love her style! She decided to create a personalized bed canopy for her two toddler boys. Jen purchased a 6x8 foot paint drop cloth and then painted our Chevron Letter Stencil in blue and green. Once the paint was dry, she hung it above their bed. Jen said, " I have to say both the kids are loving the impact that this bed canopy has added to their fun space." We do too!
