Sue had been working on making over her front room with one DIY project at a time. She purchased a lovely light blue chair for the space and needed accent pillows to decorate it. Since searching for the right pattern in the right color can be such a challenge, Sue fell in love with our accent pillow stencil kits. The first thing she did was browse our accent pillow kits for the perfect pattern and select the Bird Cage design. Our stencil kits come with everything needed to complete this easy DIY project except the paint. Sue simply selected a white pillow cover and Jacquard Fabric Paint in Turquoise and Neutral Gray. The stencil design fits securely in the frame so no tape is needed to hold it in place. Then she painted the bird cage pattern using the dense foam roller. Sue poured the paint onto a foam tray and then lightly coated the roller . Be careful not to overload the roller with paint. Be sure to roll off the excess paint onto a folded paper towel until the roller looks almost dry. The key to stenciling is using as little paint as possible. Too much paint will cause the design to bleed and smudge. Sue used the stencil brush to fill in any areas that the roller did not cover. Sue had the option to heat set the cover according to the instructions once her paint was dry. This will allow her to wash it in the future without damaging the paint.
