Stencil Designs Can Help Repurpose An Old Canvas

Cutting Edge Stencils friends. We all have blank walls but we're not all artists so today we're going to show you how to easily paint your very own wall art using the
Buddha Wall Art Stencil. Creating a beautiful piece of wall-worthy art is super easy when using a
stencil design. All it takes is an
old canvas, some acrylic paint, and your favorite stencil pattern. Let's take a look.
We'd like you to welcome back Greg, one of the Cutting Edge Stencils owners and a creative DIYer. Greg had an old canvas laying around. The piece has been previously painted at a paint night but had been sitting in his closet collecting dust. Rather than toss it, Greg decided to upcycle the canvas using a stencil.
For our visual fans, you're going to love this quick video tutorial that Greg put together. In this short how-to video, he shows fans how easy it is to stencil a canvas using a
Buddha Stencil.
Let's walk through the steps for completing this easy stencil project. The first thing he did was lightly sand down the old painted canvas. Then he used a dense foam roller to paint the canvas white.
For this particular project, Greg chose the
Buddha Wall Stencil. The classic yoga-inspired pattern encourages peace, calmness and mindfulness.
Next, Greg painted the white canvas in Modern Masters Pale Gold using a dense foam roller.
To give the background more depth, he painted Modern Master Blackened Bronze around the edges. Greg placed a dab of paint along the edges and used a large stencil brush to blend the color.
Once he was happy with his background color, Greg was ready to start
stenciling! Greg carefully placed the stencil in the center of the canvas and secured it using painter's tape. Then he began painting the
Buddha design in Modern Masters Black using a dense foam roller.
If you are recreating this project at home, please make sure you roll off any excess paint onto a piece of paper towel. Too much paint will cause the design to bleed.
Greg made sure he covered the entire design with paint before he removed the stencil from the canvas.
